This exhibition presents a wide range of abstract paintings, each of which reflects a distinct style and unique aesthetic. The eclectic mix derived from seven decades-worth of work will initiate an unusual dialogue between historic and contemporary works, modern and post-modern influences and concerns. It is our ambition to stress the timelessness of the abstract language in painting – allowing for older works to appear in a new light and for recently completed compositions to be viewed as rather “classic” examples of abstraction.
Artists featured in the show include:
Josef Albers, Peggy Bates, Norman Bluhm, Marc Van Cauwenbergh, Giorgio Cavallon, Cora Cohen, Gene Davis, Joe Fyfe, Maxwell Hendler, Hans Hofmann, Sharon Horvath, Terrell James, Martin Kline, Nick Lamia, Jim Lee, Sarah Mattes Martin Mullin, Rob Nadeau, Thomas Nozkowski, Paul Pagk, Charles Pollock, Jackson Pollock, Willy Bo Richardson, Jennifer Riley, Russell Roberts, Charles Seliger, Hedda Sterne, Gwenn Thomas, Leslie Wayne, and John Zinsser, among others.
excited to see how the contemporary paintings compliment the so-called “masters” of abstract painting.
